The fall play production at Alliance High School will feature three one-act plays. The first two productions, Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview, and Drugs are Bad, are AHS theatre class projects. In the first play, two college recruiters at a prestigious university need to fill one last spot to keep their jobs. What seems like a simple task turns into a nightmare as each applicant’s interview hilariously illustrates what NOT to do at a college interview. The second play, Drugs are Bad, is a parody of all of those insufferable after-school specials that most of us endured growing up.
The feature production, Persephone, involves an all-school cast of AHS students.
The story of Persephone, the girl who ate the pomegranate seeds and thereby sentenced herself to spend six months of each year in Hades, is one of the best known of the Greek myths. A romantic comedy, the play also captures a deeper, beautiful theme of the relationship of life and death.
Fifty-three Alliance High School students are involved in the fall productions. The play directors are Jill Hoesing & Mary Theresa Green, who teach English, speech and theatre at Alliance High School. The lighting, sound, and prop assistant for the production is Earl Jones. Karen Aerts-Curtiss and Tina Cope are assisting with costumes and make-up. Dan and Jill Hoesing designed and constructed the set.
Tickets for the production may be purchased at the door.
